Three Main Fabric for Making Dresses

Usually the main fabric of a dress is  satin,chiffon and taffeta.Now I will simply  introduce them here.

• Satin is a type of glossy fabric first made from silk in China. Exportation during the Middle Ages introduced satin to Italy in the 12th century. By the 14th century, satin garments were greatly appreciated throughout Europe because of their high gloss, and were often the choice of royalty for both their feel and sheen.

• Chiffon is made from cotton, silk or synthetic fibres. Chiffon can be dyed to almost any shade, but chiffon made from polyester can be difficult to dye. Under a magnifying glass it resembles a fine net or mesh which gives chiffon some see-through properties. Chiffon is most commonly used in evening wear, especially as an overlay, for giving an elegant and floating appearance to the gown.Chiffon can be difficult to work with because of its light and slippery texture. Due to this delicate nature, chiffon must be hand washed very gently.

• Taffeta is a type of fabric which was historically made from silk, but today can be made from many different fibers, including artificial fibers like nylon, and engineered fibers such as rayon. There are a number of uses for taffeta, ranging from lining windbreakers to making wedding gowns, and many people associate this fabric with luxury and high end garments. Many sewing stores carry taffeta, and it can also be ordered directly from fabric manufacturers. This fabric usually has a very tight weave, and the weave is plain. Taffeta is famous for being very stiff and crisp, generating rustling sounds when people move in it. Yarn-dyed fabric tends to be especially stiff, while piece-dyed garments are softer and more flexible. The fabric is also very soft and smooth to the touch, and it has a famously lustrous and glimmery appearance.
